2009 CHILI TRAVEL BASEBALL TRYOUTS

Overview 

Travel Teams can be formed from all of our in-house divisions. This is dependent on the interest level of players and their families within each division, each season. 

At the beginning of each season, each division will hold tryouts for travel teams (see "Tryout Process"). One or two teams per division can be formed depending on interest. These teams will participate in weekend tournaments during our regular season. They also will participate in a travel league during the month of August after our in-house division season ends.

Chili Youth Baseball does have "travel only" teams that do not play in our in-house divisions. Current examples of these are our boys Cal-Ripken and Babe Ruth teams. There are try-outs for each of these teams and each requires a significant time commitment. They participate in league play during the week and travel tournaments on weekends. 

We do not currently have any girls "travel only" or in-house division travel teams planned. In past seasons, Chili Youth Baseball had multiple girls fastpitch softball travel teams and also sponsored a tournament. Either type of team can be supported if there is enough interest.

Tryout Process

The tryouts are run by our Travel Director. The process is centered on rating players in key elements of the game. This would include hitting, fielding, throwing, and so on. We encourage all division coaches and assistant coaches to participate in the rating process. Team selection is based on the totals of all ratings sheets. The top 14-15 players are selected for the team.
